Heritage Open Days are between 6th and 15th September 2024 and Rye Meadows will be open to the public to enjoy from 10am to 4pm.
On Sunday 8th September Rye Meadows volunteers will be on hand with their stand on Footpath 596 from Fairholme Crescent next to Centenary Field to give out leaflets and maps, and to explain what they do. There will be an opportunity to buy Rye Meadows mugs and tea towels (£5) and the new book on Rye Meadows - Restoring the Great Marsh (£10). This would be an ideal Christmas present for someone.
On other days, the fields will be open between 10am and 4pm. Please keep to the mown paths and if dog walking, keep your dogs on the lead. There are two main reasons for this. The long grass can contain ticks and a bite from an infected tick can cause Lymes Disease. Also the long grass can house nesting birds and we do not want these disturbed by roaming dogs. Finally please "pick up the poo" and deposit it in the one of the bins in Preston Grove, Fairholme Crescent or the corner of Ashtead Common.
Rye Meadows is NOT part of Ashtead Common and is privately owned. It is maintained by a group of enthusiastic volunteers who meet twice a month. For more information go this page.
